Start a Healthy New Year Right with a Half Marathon

Whether it is to reduce stress from work or cut back on junk food, more often than not we forget about our goals and fall into the same habits by the end of January. However, you can get a head start now and begin training so that you can cross something off of your bucket list right after the end of the year. Running a half marathon can be a daunting goal, but with the right training you will not only be able to cross the finish line but fly through the course. Luckily, Los Angeles offers some of the most unique courses around. This year will be the second annual New Year’s Race Half Marathon and 5k, allowing you to run by all of the hot spots in Los Angeles at night. The race is on Saturday, Jan. 4, at 7 p.m. and registration is still open. The Los Angeles half marathon race starts at 7th and Grand and finishes at L.A. Live next to the Staples Center. Along the route you will run by historic Broadway, Grand Park, City Hall, the Chinatown dragons and up to Dodger Stadium. Be sure to take a look at the course map and familiarize yourself with the terrain so that you know what to expect come race day.
